Self Portrait of a Savant

By MMD

You sit there with boredom in your veins and an air of carelessness,

though boredom and carelessness you wouldn’t ascribe yourself at the moment,

and apply terms to paper that cannot describe yourself

because of their total inaccuracy to your character.

You do not smell, but concerns still sprout in the place of freshness.

You’re not the worst looking, but a shave and a haircut might do you good.

You write yourself as a savant,

which isn’t to say your works are completely incomprehensible,

but you lack the acclaim or completion of construct to truly take the term to heart.

Your name is important

but not too important to you that you’d be opposed to nicknames

save for one which is strictly taboo for others to claim to know you by.

I mean not to be rude when I say that you care not for yourself at times,

considering your time is spent in other’s hands.

I would be remiss if I did not mention your lack of

self delusion.

You are not me,

but then what else

would you be?
